Chlorine (Cl2)

Chlorine gas (Cl2) is most often used for disinfection and sanitization in a variety of industries such as chemical processing and wastewater treatment due to its effectiveness and ease of use. However, it is considered a volatile organic compound (VOC) and is highly toxic and sometimes explosive if combined with other substances. Exposure to Cl2 can result in irritation of the eyes, mucous membrane, skin and respiratory system and can even result in death at higher levels. Considering the significant risks of Cl2, reliable detection equipment is vital in the case of an accidental release.

TAS has extensive knowledge of chlorine process emissions and storage and handling emissions for everything from bleach production to water sanitation. TAS brings a unique approach to projects by taking into consideration the full range of requirements for a project and clearly defining the scope such that all stakeholders are in agreement.
